How to Choose a Video Card

Lot of people get in to trouble when they look for a good video card for their computers. This post explains, how to choose the best video card for your computer.


So, how to start ?

  • Do a small research in internet about what you are planing to buy. Look for reviews.

  • Benchmarks. Benchmarks will tell you how your video card is going to work on the real world. It will help you to compare performance between different Video cards.

  • Check the power supply to make sure you have enough power and connectors for your video card. Most new video cards need 8 pin or 6 pin or both power connectors to make the card work.

  • What is the slot type for the video card on your motherboard (AGP (Older), PCI-Express V 1.0 or PCI-Express V 2.0 (Newer))

  • nvidia chipset, SLI mother boards supports to run multiple nvidia video cards on the same motherboard.

  • Intel chipset, crossfire and crossfire X mother boards supports to run multiple ATI video cards on the same motherboard.
